New Choices was incorporated in 1983 as a non-profit agency dedicated to serving the unique needs of victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse.
For over 30 years our advocates have worked tirelessly to help men, women, teens and children through their individual crises, whether it be in the home, workplace, school, online or wherever abuse may arise. We strive to become an integral part of the community, working to make life safe for everyone.
- To provide emergency shelter, crisis intervention, education, and advocacy for adults and children who are victims of domestic violence

- To Help victims break the cycle of domestic violence and regain control of their lives
New Choices employs a combination of full-time and part-time staff members to be available to our clients and safe house 24 hours a day.
The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of New Choices Inc.
The Executive Director is responsible for staff management, program operations, and in cooperation with the Board, for overall strategic planning, revenue generation, financial management, and organizational development.
The Child Advocate works with children directly in our shelter, as well as providing presentations to young children and teens free of charge in the community.
Also works with clients in our safe house to set goals for their life and work collaboratively to achieve those goals.
The Court Advocate’s primary responsibility is to accompany victims/survivors through the court system. Although we are not attorneys, we are able to help complete paperwork and guide clients through the legal process. The Court Advocate also works with clients in our safe house to set goals for their life and work collaboratively to achieve those goals.
New Choice’s Support Specialist take calls on our crisis hotline, work with our clients and their children to attain their goals, and address any needs or concerns during their stay. They help tremendously with various projects that keep our entire team running smoothly, and providing the best possible service to our clients.

New Choices is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. As such, our funding comes from a variety of sources.
Made available through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and the Office of Criminal Justice Services.
We are proudly an agency of the United Way of Shelby County.
In addition, we receive a portion of funds from Marriage Licenses and Costs Associated with any New Action or Proceeding for Annulment, Divorce, or Dissolution of Marriage, which is issued by the Shelby County Commissioners office, according to Ohio Revised Codes 3113.34 and 3113.35.
The balance of our operating budget comes from our Fundraisers, including the Spring Social/Charity Auction and the Break Away 5K, as well as private contributions from the graciously generous individuals who live and work in Shelby County.
